Rick Kamla, former host at 92.9/The Game who lost his job in March, has landed at Sports Radio 610 in Houston as part of a new afternoon drive-time team.
Kamla - who also spent 17 years working for NBA TV - was one of the original hosts at 92.9/The Game going back to October, 2012. He started mornings with Randy Cross. He was eventually moved to mid-days and paired with John Michaels.
On Sports Radio 610 (KILT-AM), he starts with former NFL quarterback Clint Stoerner on Monday, July 22 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
He will have to give up his Atlanta-based NBA TV work now that he’s in Houston.
"Rick has relationships with individuals like Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley that our listeners will find fascinating, and his expertise that he can provide on the NBA will be unique for us," KILT program director Armen Williams said to the Houston Chronicle. "He has a distinct myriad of sports experience and knowledge that will distinguish him from anyone the Houston market has listened to before."
This move was part of a sweeping upheaval at 610 which also included jettisoning the morning show.
The Game, in the meantime, brought in recent evening host Andy Bunker and former NFL tight end Randy McMichael, for mid-days, replacing Kamla and Michaels.
