Hartsfield-Jackson considering innovation center

Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is considering developing an innovation center, according to city documents.

The Atlanta airport is seeking a company to “research and analyze the current and future potential of an Innovation Center (virtual and physical) across aviation and other industries in Metro Atlanta and other national and international markets and how it can be realized at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport,” according to a request for proposals.

Other airports have innovation centers, such as San Diego International Airport’s Innovation Lab and Munich Airport’s planned LabCampus. Hartsfield-Jackson is already a member of the American Association of Airport Executives’ Airport Innovation Accelerator.

The Atlanta airport plans to hold a pre-proposal conference for interested companies on June 19 at 9:30 a.m. at its technical support campus at 1255 South Loop Road in College Park.
