I’ve been blogging all week without introducing myself.

I’ll fix that now: How do you do?

I’m the new Senior Editor for Business at the AJC, but I’ve been an editor here for 16 years. I’ve edited everything from community news to state politics, and I’ve had a hand in business, sports and all manners of local news. I’m a fourth-generation Georgian, live in downtown Marietta and know the metro area well.

Every business editor should own a white dinner jacket.

But my truest identity is as wingman to my far-more-talented wife, AJC entertainment columnist Jennifer Brett.

It’s an exciting time to be business editor in metro Atlanta, as this long-vibrant region works to regain its pre-recession prosperity.

Can we overcome the barriers that face us? How? And who will lead us?

That’s the broad story I want our top-notch business reporting team to tell in the months ahead.

If you have ideas, observations or comments, email me at cgay@ajc.com. Follow me on Twitter at @charlesgayajc. And please continue to watch this space. As I come across interesting items from the local and national business worlds, I'll post them here.

Let me hear from you!
