San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster pled not guilty in court Tuesday to three felonies surrounding a domestic violence incident involving his ex-girlfriend.
Foster, 24, was charged in April with three felony charges for domestic violence, possession of an assault weapon and forcefully attempting to prevent the victim from reporting the crime all stemming from a February incident in which Foster was arrested at his home in Los Gatos, Calif.
An evidentiary hearing is scheduled for Friday in which the former Alabama first-round pick is not required to appear. A preliminary trial has been set for May 17, according to ESPN.
On April 26, Foster's 28-year-old ex-girlfriend recanted her statement about Foster's involvement in the alleged incident. Her lawyer told The Sacramento Bee the victim had video of herself in an altercation with another woman, not Foster, which resulted in her injuries and hospital visit.
