Georgia State's young football program may be experiencing some growing pains and has had trouble recently picking up wins, but it is winning over some big-name fans. Ludacris, the internationally renowned rapper and actor, has given GSU a "shout out" in a new YouTube video.

Titled "A Special Message from Ludacris" the star is seen holding up a Panthers jersey and says he can't wait for Friday night's opening game against the Samford Bulldogs. Ludacris attended Benjamin Banneker High School in Atlanta and graduated in 1996. He studied music management at Georgia State University from 1998-1999.

He has found success in music and on the big screen, having won a Screen Actors Guild award, a Critic's Choice award, and three Grammy Awards. As far as the Panthers, the team went 1-10 last season and will have an even tougher schedule this season as they start their first season in the Division I Sun Belt Conference. They play Samford Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the Georgia Dome. The game is available on ESPN3.
