In what can only be described as work of pure comedic genius, baseball outcast Jose Canseco made a-go at the Texas Longhorns' opening as head football coach.

Using the hashtag #Cansecohorns, the onetime "Bash Brother" outlined what has troubled Texas under departing coach Mack Brown.Well, Nick Saban wasn't interested, so someone had to bid for the gig.

Canseco, a six-time All-Star, played for 17 seasons with the Oakland A's, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers and others. He has admitted to using performance enhancing drugs in a tell-all book in 2005. Since his retirement from baseball in 2001, he has tried boxing and mixed martial arts.

Canseco (@JoseCanseco) explained in his tweets that he knows football more than baseball, and how the real flaw with the Longhorns has been recruiting.

What follows is Canseco's five-phased plan to lead the Longhorns:

So sorry to hear about Mack Brown. hug for u buddy

Hey Steve @stevepatterson you need a huge name for huge job buddy.  I know football even better than baseball.

Hey Steve @stevepatterson Here is my plan to fix Texas football.

First the lines are weak.  It is our foundation and must be stronger. I know what to do. #Cansecohorns

Second what conference are we even in now?  Just join the SEC already #Cansecohorns

Third why have we had all these 5'9 QBs with weak arms?  Go get another Vince Young  #Cansecohorns

Forth hire the Baylor recruiting coach he is killing us.  #Cansecohorns
