Kyle Korver is returning to Creighton University on a permanent basis.
At least his name is anyway.
The school is currently building a $13 million practice facility to be called the Championship Center. The practice gym will feature the Kyle Korver Courts after the alum and current Hawks player who paid for the floors. School officials showed off the facility in Omaha, Nebraska Friday.
Creighton Athletic Director Bruce Rasmussen said the facility will help the Bluejays be an elite college basketball program.
“Kids and their parents want to see if you’re walking the talk,” Rasmussen told the Associated Press. “Everybody wants to be Top 25. They say we want to be an NCAA-caliber program every year. You come into the strength-and-conditioning area, you go into the athletic training area, you go into the academic support area and you see the practice area.
“You’re saying, ‘I think they have made a commitment to where they can say we’re trying to keep up and be nationally relevant with a number of sports.’”
The facility will also feature the Doug McDermott Players Lounge. A donor asked that the area be named for the 2014 National Player of the Year, who will be a likely first-round selection in this month’s NBA Draft.
According to the school’s website, the facility will be dedicated June 12.
