Business Insider recently conducted a study to find out which languages other than English and Spanish are the most common in each state and Washington, D.C.
To do so, its experts gathered data from the United States Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, which interviews more than a million Americans on their background.
After assessing the information, they determined English was the most commonly spoken language across the U.S. and Spanish was the second in 46 states and D.C.
They then found German was the most commonly spoken non-English, non-Spanish language in nine states and French was the most often spoken in six states and D.C.
As for Georgia, its third most spoken language is Korean. That was also the case for Alabama and Kentucky.
The team noted about 1,104,145 people speak the language nationally. They also said Korean-Americans are the fifth-largest Asian immigrant group in America with 99% of Korean-Americans originally hailing from South Korea.
