A sedan crashed into a retention pond Thursday, leaving the driver dead and shutting down the northbound ramp from I-75 to Chastain Road for about two hours.

The accident happened just before 6:40 a.m., Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

The ramp reopened just before 8:50 a.m., according to the Cobb County Department of Transportation.

Traffic was slowly improving in the area, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

The victim’s name, the cause of the crash and other details have not been released.
