Q: Can you provide an update on the changes regarding the meteorologists at all the local TV networks? — Donna Wilson, Grayson
A:
David Chandley left Channel 2 Action News after 25 years, Ken Cook, the chief meteorologist at Fox 5, is retiring after 35 years at that station and Steve Milone, a weekend meteorologist at Fox 5, also is leaving. They joined former 11 Alive chief meteorologist Mike Francis, who left earlier this year. Chandley said he wants to be a chief meteorologist, which wasn’t going to happen with Glenn Burns also at Channel 2. He won’t be able to join another Atlanta station until January, after his 180-day non-compete clause expires. Katie Walls joined Channel 2 Action News as a meteorologist. Cook, who has been at Fox 5 since 1979 when it was a CBS affiliate, wrote in a statement: “Over the years, I’ve planted a lot of roses — actually and figuratively — and now it’s time for my wife and me to start to smell the roses.” Francis has gone into real estate with Keller Williams, the AJC reported, after leaving 11 Alive in January.
