Q: We all know how rainy it was the last part of December. I never saw official statistics for how much rain we had in December compared to normal and how that added up for the whole year, compared to normal. Can you provide statistics?

A: Last month was the second wettest December on record in Atlanta, with 12.51 inches of rain for the month.

The record for December is 12.94 inches, set in 1919, WSB-TV meteorologist Brad Nitz told Q&A on the News in an email.

The total rainfall for the year was 68.38 inches, which is 18.67 inches above the average yearly total of 49.71 inches.

Last month was the warmest December on record with an average temperature of 57.6 degrees.

The previous record was 57.2 degrees, set in 1889, and the average for the month is 45.3 degrees.

Q: Where does Mrs. Madoff live these days?

A: Ruth Madoff, the wife of Bernie Madoff, was living in an apartment in Old Greenwich, Conn., the TV show "Crime Watch Daily" reported in November.

Ruth Madoff received a $2.5 million settlement with the Justice Department in 2009.

“Crime Watch Daily” reported on its website that she’s paying about $3,000 a month for the apartment.

Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison after he pleaded guilty in 2009 to 11 felonies for running the largest Ponzi scheme in history.
