Q: There were two adult survivors of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December, but there has been no news about their injuries. How they are doing now?

—Lynne Becker, Roswell

A: Natalie Hammond, who was the lead teacher at Sandy Hook, is recovering from gunshot wounds to her arm and leg during the massacre that killed 20 children and six adults on Dec. 14. Hammond, principal Dawn Hochsprung and school psychologist Mary Sherlach left a staff meeting and were shot by Adam Lanza. Hochsprung and Sherlach were killed, and Hammond was able to crawl behind a door. She was invited to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address and dropped the first puck at a Boston Bruins' NHL game on March 3. Police never released the name of the other wounded adult, but USA Today reported it was a substitute kindergarten teacher. The Hartford (Conn.) Courant reported that teacher was hit in the foot by a bullet that had ricocheted.

Q: How are tag renewal dates determined for commercial vehicles in Georgia?

—Keith Nash, Decatur

A: Commercial vehicle tags must be renewed by the final day of the month according to the name of the business, in most circumstances, according to the Georgia Department of Revenue. For example, businesses that begin with A or B have to renew by the end of January and those that begin with C and D have to renew by the end of February. Renewals for certain heavy-duty trucks and permanent trailer registration must be completed by Feb. 15.
