Left’s penchant for authoritarianism on full display now
Democrats’ attempts to block Judge Kavanaugh at all costs have uncovered deeper ideals of the left-wing authoritarians. Reportedly, several Democrats on the Judiciary Committee as well as Sen. Schumer have openly stated “there is no presumption of innocence” in these accusations against the judge. The attempts to delay through yet another FBI investigation are unfounded and even unlawful. The FBI has no jurisdiction, and furthermore, no actual charges by any local authority have been filed. A ‘no presumption of innocence’ view indicates Judge Kavanaugh is guilty in their minds, even without a trial or defense. This attack on due process is an attack on the basic premises of democracy and on the Constitution itself. Without due process, the Constitution becomes subject to illogical scrutiny and destruction. Shame on the Democrats, the media and all who follow or vote for such! This will lead us all to anarchy if we’re not careful.
LARRY SHUMAN, DOUGLASVILLE
When confronted by yearbook and other written evidence of the misogynistic male culture he participated in at Georgetown Prep and Yale University, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, if he were committed to equality as an adult, would express deep remorse for his youthful actions. Yet Kavanaugh said on Fox News, “I think all of us have probably done things we look back on in high school and regret or cringe a bit.” No, Judge Kavanaugh, that is not remorse. With a playbook committed only to discrediting the opposition, Republican leadership cannot admit the slightest fault, let alone acknowledge the credible accusations of actual assault. Supporters of Judge Kavanaugh are in a tight spot. If they ram through the confirmation, voters horrified by the attitude displayed toward women will be mobilized. If Trump withdraws the nomination, the same voters will be mobilized. Which course will Republican leaders decide is less costly?
