Tax bill lets rich invest in their businesses
I have to comment on the last sentence of the letter “Trickle-down economics won’t create jobs,” Dec. 13, where he says “We know that giving the rich more money will not create jobs.” Typical thinking of a liberal. The new tax law is not intended on “giving the rich more money ” but rather letting the “rich” keep some of the money they have already earned and plowing it back in their business and thereby allowing them to expand and hire more employees.

India may play greater role in Myanmar conflict
The letter-writer of “Selling arms contributes to ethnic cleansing,” Readers Write, Dec. 7, quotes the Times of India to the effect that Israel’s selling arms to Myanmar helps in ethnic cleansing and further says Israel field-tests weapons on the Palestinians, then sells them to the worst regimes. I appreciate his reference to the rabbis who have petitioned Israel to stop arms sales to Myanmar. According to the Times of Israel, Israel claims to have stopped those arms sales in response to the petition. But I wondered if his allegations are true. First of all, those rabbis were petitioning the U.S. as well as Israel. Second, ironically, that same petition says China, Russia, and India are the primary enablers of the Burmese military.
A little research indicates the world’s largest arms exporters are the U.S., Russia, Germany, France and China — constituting 74 percent of those exports. India is the world’s greatest importer of arms over the past five years. Since 2012, India has been Israel’s largest defense-industry client, and depending on a particular missile deal, Israel may be India’s largest arms supplier.
