The fictional White House press secretary in the show “The West Wing” stopped by the real West Wing to punk reporters at the daily White House briefing Friday afternoon.
Allison Janney said she was substituting for Josh Earnest, the real White House press secretary who Janney said was out for the day.
“I believe it’s a root canal,” Janney joked.
The actress, who played CJ Cregg in the hit series, got serious and spoke about combating the opioid epidemic before she gave the podium back to Earnest, who carried on with the rest of the briefing.
