If McDonald's can't deliver your drive-thru order within 60 seconds of paying, you eat for free on your next visit.
That's the basis of a new promotion at some Florida McDonald's according to a Miami Herald report.
Patrons at participating McDonald's in southern and central Florida will receive timers when they pay at the drive-thru window. If the order is not delivered within 60 seconds, McDonald's will issue a coupon for a free lunch item for a future visit.
The promotion will run Monday – Friday from noon to 1 p.m. through Aug. 29.
According to Business Insider, McDonald's has a drive-thru wait time average of more than three minutes, which is the longest average wait time in at least 15 years, according to a study by QSR Magazine.
Business Insider earlier reported that McDonald's, in an effort to speed up wait times, announced plans to add a third window to its drive-thru lanes.
