Answers:

1. B. The Cobb County School Board last week voted to terminate the contract of a special-education teacher accused of putting a second-grader with autism in a trash can. Mary Katherine Pursley, a teacher at Mt. Bethel Elementary, said at a tribunal hearing that she was trying to calm the child, not hurt him.

2. C. Dunwoody residents whose homes gained value over the past three years will get money back because they were overcharged on their property tax bills. The error occurred because Dunwoody officials didn't notify the county, which handles the city's tax billing, after voters approved a tax exemption during a November 2010 election. The measure passed with 81 percent of the vote.

3. A. The Atlanta partners behind the SkyView Ferris wheel in downtown Atlanta said they plan to pay unpaid taxes to a Florida county that is prepared to sell the multimillion-dollar attraction to get its money. In a suit filed in Fulton County Superior Court on June 1, Escambia County tax collector Janet Holley asked that Fulton's sheriff be ordered to "surrender" SkyView to the Florida county "for its retention and/or disposition." Holley claims Skyview's operator failed to pay more than $350,000 in property taxes and penalties before the Ferris wheel left Pensacola Beach for Atlanta two years ago.

4. D. Warrants allege rapper Rick Ross assaulted a man inside a guesthouse at his Fayette County estate earlier this month, chipped the man's teeth with a handgun and injured his jaw so badly that he was "restricted to soft foods and liquid diet." Ross, 39 was arrested last week and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and kidnapping.

5. B. Elton John is among a diverse quartet of headliners for the fifth year of Music Midtown, which takes place Sept. 18-19 in Piedmont Park, its home since returning in 2011. Canadian rapper Drake — who made a surprise appearance recently at a Hot 107.9 birthday concert at Philips Arena — will also commandeer a headlining slot, as will veteran rockers Van Halen and British crooner Sam Smith. Bon Jovi is not on the roster.
