New item-Atlanta

One of the items we constantly hear about is water leaks, especially in the city limits of Atlanta, and this week is no exception. Jim Lenahan told us about a leak in the middle of 12th Street, near an entrance to an apartment complex under construction. He said the leak has reportedly been this way since May and wants some relief in getting this issue fixed in the heart of the city.

We sent the item to city officials and will keep you updated.

Joyce Norman sent us an unusual request that we will try and see if there is an easy solution to help alleviate traffic issues.

“This request is not for anything broken, however, I hope you can lend a hand. During rush hour, the traffic traveling west on 14th Street in Midtown turning left onto Juniper Street continues to turn, whether they will be able to make the turn or not, thus blocking eastbound traffic when the light changes,” she wrote. Norman said the green light for eastbound traffic is very short and causes a bottleneck daily.

“How can we get a traffic cop to stand there and ticket the abusers thus making traffic flow?” she asked.

We’re not sure if a traffic cop is the ultimate and best solution, but we sent the perplexing issue to the city and will report to you on their findings.

Update-Cobb County

In December we told you about a reader’s plight in Cobb County over a lack of striping on a busy highway.

“Several weeks back, I wrote to you about a lack of lane striping on South Cobb Drive in front of the Cobb County Tag Office. You did publish the attached photo along with my request to have stripes added to this six lane road,” wrote Randy Cook

Cook recently contacted us with a follow-up question about the issue.

“Might you do an update on the issue I reported? It has been at least four weeks and it is not apparent that anyone is working on it, because I drove by today and nothing has changed.”

We asked for an update from Cobb County officials who got back to us quickly. The road is actually maintained by the state DOT who told Cobb County officials the road has been submitted for the striping to be refurbished. The department is currently waiting on Maintenance Activities Unit to give them a firm date on when the work will begin.
