During a routine health inspection, Genki Noodles & Sushi in Sandy Springs could not show proof that it had a certified food safety manager on staff. This was one of several health codes still out of compliance at the restaurant on Roswell Road.

In addition to the certification, raw meats were still improperly stored with ready-to-eat foods in several coolers. Old food containers were still being reused. Chemicals were still stored in the wrong places, the inspector said.

Genki Noodles & Sushi, 5590 Roswell Road, scored 51/U. The restaurant had previous health scores of 87/B and 96/A.

Points were also taken off because employees were careless about touching foods and washing their hands. One employee touched fruit with bare hands while preparing a beverage. Another handled raw shrimp then ready-to-eat foods with the same gloves. The inspector observed gloves being washed instead of discarded.

In other code violations, not all prepared foods in storage were labeled with discard dates. Some of the cooling units had broken or inaccurate thermometers. Some of the cold food in storage was at unsafe temperatures.

Also, the inspector observed a damp cloth on top of a chicken breast, personal beverages stored in the same cooler as customer drinks and excessive jewelry worn by some of the food prep staff.

Genki Noodles & Sushi will be re-inspected.
