There were no rats in the bathroom at Grand Buffet restaurant in Atlanta, according to a Fulton County health inspector, but there were a host of other problems.
The inspector was looking for evidence of pests in the bathrooms but found none during a recent routine inspection. Points were taken off because food was not being protected from contamination.
Uncovered food was in the freezer and coolers. Food was stored on the floor of both walk-in coolers near the cook-line. Chicken at the cook-line was at an unsafe temperature. Frozen salmon was thawing on a drain board.
Grand Buffet, 4365 Fulton Industrial Blvd., Atlanta, failed the inspection with a 60/U.
The restaurant was re-inspected three days later and passed with a 93/A. Grand Buffet also had previous A health ratings, scoring 93/A and 94/A on inspections made within the past year.
Among other code violations, foods were unlabeled in the freezer and in all three coolers. None of the cooling units had working thermometers.
The ice machine had mold inside. The cutting boards were in disrepair. And the facility was dirty with food debris.
