Gogi House, a Korean barbecue restaurant in Duluth, recently failed another routine health inspection, the second since August.

The inspector said the all-you-can-eat barbecue restaurant did not ensure that food products delivered to the restaurant were safe to eat and in good condition.

During the inspection, boxes of food were delivered and stored on the kitchen floor, which was wet. This presented a potential contamination risk, the inspector said. Employees did not open the boxes to take food temperatures, or check food conditions for spoilage.

The inspector took points off because the certified food safety manager was not at the restaurant when the food delivery was made.

Points were also taken off because several inadequately covered food items in the walk-in cooler were contaminated with ice. Overfilled containers of beef and pork had plastic lids that were loosely placed on top. Fish and shrimp were loosely wrapped in plastic or placed in loose plastic bags, some of which were torn.

Gogi House, 3490 Gwinnett Place Drive, received a health score of 55/U. The restaurant scored 40/U on a routine inspection in August, then scored 84/B on the follow-up inspection.

In other code violations, prepared rice cakes were not cooled to a safe temperature within the proper time frame. They were discarded. The freezer had a condensation leak, and ice had accumulated throughout. One of the sinks had a leak and water was pooling onto the kitchen floor. Flies were observed near the dry storage shelves and at the drink machine.

Gogi House will be re-inspected.
