The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox completed a mega-trade Thursday that involved five players.

And one of them hails from north Fulton County.

Dylan Cease, a Milton High School graduate and right-handed pitcher, was a part of a package that the Cubs sent to the White Sox in exchange for former All-Star Jose Quintana.

Shortly after the deal was announced, Cease posted a message to the Cubs on Twitter, thanking the team who drafted him in the sixth round of the 2014 draft for its trainers, coaches and staff "who spent countless hours" helping the 21-year-old develop.

Cease, who had been spending this season playing for the Cubs' Single-A affiliate in South Bend, Indiana, also said he was "really excited" to join the White Sox and is looking "forward to continuing" his development.

In 13 starts this season, Cease is 1-2 with a 2.79 ERA over 51.2 innings pitched. He's struck out 71 batters so far in 2017 and is ranked at No. 63 on MLB's top 100 prospects list.

Heading to the White Sox with Cease are Eloy Jiménez, Matt Rose and Bryant Flete. With the trade, the White Sox are now tied with the Braves for the most prospects in MLB’s top 100 list with nine each.

The White Sox have not yet announced where Cease will be assigned. The team has three minor league affiliates in North Carolina and one in Birmingham, Alabama.

On Twitter, the White Sox said: “Dylan brings us an impressive young pitcher who is ranked among the top pitching prospects in the game.”
