A Dominican restaurant in Gwinnett County failed its recent health inspection, with officials noting raw meat and seafood stored above ready-to-eat food.
Mamajuana Restaurant and Lounge, located at 950 Indian Trail Road in Lilburn, received at 63/U on its Monday afternoon inspection.
According to the inspection report, officials found "raw beef (removed from the package) stored above raw seafood (removed from the package) and ready to eat foods in the freezer." Multiple foods — including flan and dulce de leche — were also being stored above the recommended temperature. The prep cooler was not cold enough either, officials said.
Other reported violations included the facility not having "a verifiable way to indicate that employees are educated in the employee health policy" or "procedures or supplies for vomiting and diarrheal events."
The restaurant scored an 81/B on its previous inspection, completed June 23. A follow-up inspection take place within 10 days of Monday's evaluation.
A woman who answered the phone at the restaurant Tuesday morning said a manager was not available for comment.
