The Henry County Police Department is planning a ceremony to honor the officers who took part in the April hostage standoff that ended with the deaths of three people.

Anthony Bailey killed his girlfriend Sandra White, an expectant mother, and her son Arkeyvion during a 16-hour standoff with police in a Stockbridge neighborhood. Bailey then turned the gun on himself.

Two officers, who were among the first to enter the house -- Keegan Merritt and Taylor Webb -- were shot, but their injuries were non-fatal. Police from all over the south metro region, as well as the Georgia State Patrol, were called in to help during the event.

The department will hold the ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday in the front parking lot of the Henry Police headquarters at 108 South Zack Hinton Parkway in McDonough. The department said it will also use the occasion to display new equipment that it has purchased as a result of the standoff.
