Henry law enforcement, judges to tackle substance abuse at symposium

Henry judicial, law enforcement leaders to discuss how courts handle substance abuse offenders, mental health issues during Sept. 24 symposium.

Henry County is planning a symposium later this month on specialty courts that will include discussions about substance abuse and mental health issues.

The event is planned for 7 p.m. Sept. 24 in the community room of the Henry County Administration Building, 140 Henry Parkway in McDonough. The event is free and open to the public.

Representatives from Henry's judicial, district attorney, law enforcement and solicitor general's offices will discuss how they deal with criminal offenders who have drug and substance addictions as well as those with mental health issues. Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Harold Melton will give a keynote address.
