Since he was diagnosed with a type of leukemia in May, 6-year-old Riley Johnson of Hall County has been an inspiration to his family, the Gainesville Times reported.

“He’s a lot tougher than we are,” said his father, J.R. Johnson.

This Sunday, the boy, an Atlanta Falcons fan, will gain more support in his efforts to beat the disease. He will be on the Georgia Dome field for the coin toss when the Falcons take on the New Orleans Saints, the newspaper reported.

Riley Johnson’s presence as honorary team captain is due to to the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research’s partnership with the Falcons.

The family also has started a "Rally 4 Riley" Facebook page to document efforts to help the boy beat the disease, according to the newspaper.

“God’s got our back,” said his mother, Molly Johnson, “and we’re going to win this fight together.”
