Gwinnett County police are asking for the public’s help finding a teen runaway with special needs.

Kaitlin Crenshaw, 16, was last seen around 10:30 p.m. Saturday at her family’s apartment at the Wesley Park complex on Norcross’ Graves Road. Her mother awoke early the next morning to find her missing.

Crenshaw — who “has the mental capacity of someone much younger” — left a handwritten note behind saying she was leaving voluntarily “because of issues within the family,” police said. Area checks and searches in areas where she is known to frequent have been unfruitful in the days since Crenshaw’s disappearance.

She is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall and approximately 145 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She is possibly wearing a grey shirt with two green birds on the front.

Anyone who encounters Crenshaw should call 911. Anyone with information regarding her disappearance should contact Detective Jeffrey Richter at 770-513-5394, Sgt. Daniel Appleby at 678-222-8532 or the main Gwinnett County police number at 770-513-5300.
