The Georgia Recreation and Park Association has named Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation the number one park agency in the state serving more than 80,000 residents.
It’s the latest award for a parks system that also has been honored by the National Recreation and Park Association.
Gwinnett County Commissioner Shirley Lasseter said the state award “exemplifies Gwinnett’s commitment to providing the best parks, open spaces and recreational facilities for our citizens.”
Lois Allen, chairwoman of the Gwinnett County Recreation Authority, said the award is the result of citizen involvement, long-range planning and fiscal management.
“The lives of millions of people have been enriched because they have spent time in Gwinnett parks,” Allen said.
