Grease caused a 5,000-gallon sewage spill last week near Lilburn, officials said.

According to the Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources, the spill orginated just before 10 a.m. Friday at a manhole on Traymore Drive. It was stopped by 11:20 a.m.

"The spill was approximately 5,084 gallons in volume and entered an unnamed tributary of Beaver Ruin Creek," officials said in a news release.

Water resources workers raked the area, spread lime and alerted the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, officials said.
