The Atlanta Ice Cream Festival is a time for indulgence. It's a temporary relief from the adage: "Everything in moderation."

But here’s a twist. The dessert-focused event is also a time for testing your glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol.

The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority will be conducting such screenings at the festival's Wellness Tent, according to the group. Those who stop by will have access to educational information and free screenings.

The FDHA, which owns Grady Health System, will also raffle two HP 15.6-inch HD touchscreen laptops; entrants must complete the screenings for a free ticket and be present for the drawing to win. Prizes and giveaways will be held throughout the day.

This is the seventh year for the Piedmont Park festival, which will include a cancer benefit walk, yoga and an ice cream-eating competition.

The festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 22 in Piedmont Park, 10th Street and Charles Allen Drive. Entry is free.

Attendees can apply to volunteer for the Wellness Tent here.

This week's Best of Atlanta poll is inspired by all things cool and tasty.
