Officers who caught a teenager shoplifting did an unexpected thing, according to a Georgia police department.

Lt. Walters and Officer Brunson with Rome police caught a 14-year-old shoplifting candy from a local business, according to the department's Facebook page.

Police said the teen gave the candy back, but they wanted to do something for him.

The officers found out he didn't have any food in his house when they took him home, so they decided to take him to get groceries.
