Three Fulton County schools won accolades at the recent 2017 Shuler Hensley Awards, which honors the best in Georgia high school theater.
Milton High, Johns Creek High and The Lovett School beat out schools across the state to take home top prizes Thursday. The sold-out ceremony was broadcast live on Georgia Public Broadcasting from the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
Nearly 60 students across more than a dozen Fulton schools took part in the show by playing in the student ensemble, helping with production, being nominated or receiving scholarships.

Johns Creek High’s “Cinderella” and King’s Ridge Christian School’s “Guys and Dolls” were nominated for best Overall Production, but lost out to “Les Miserables” by Heritage High, a Conyers school. “Cinderella” was also nominated for best Ensemble, but the award went to “The Spitfire Grill” by Calhoun’s Gordon Central High.

- Milton High won the Showstopper award for the song "9 to 5." Students performed the song during the award show.
- Brothers Kellen and Brennan Blotner won awards for their work on Johns Creek High School's production of "Cinderella". Kellen won Best Sound; Brennan won Best Orchestra.
- Wesley Forlines won Best Lighting Design for The Lovett School's production of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum"
- Emma Grace Crumbley won Best Performance by a Supporting Actress as Madame for Johns Creek High's production of "Cinderella"
- Shannan O'Dowd won Best Music Direction for Johns Creek High's production of "Cinderella"
- Sim Jones, a math teacher and technical director in the drama department, won for Best Scenic Design for Milton High's production of "9 to 5"
