Friend lied to agent, drove Anitra Gunn’s alleged killer, warrants say

Warrants released Thursday accuse a friend of Anitra Gunn of lying twice to a GBI agent and of giving a ride to the suspect who’s been charged with malice murder in the case.

Javion Abron, 22, of Valdosta is charged with false statements and helping conceal Gunn's death. The warrants don't suggest that Abron had a direct role in hiding Gunn's body. Georgia's "Party to a Crime" law says that "every person concerned in the commission of a crime is a party thereto and may be charged with and convicted of commission of the crime," according to the Official Code of Georgia.

The warrants don’t provide details about the false statements

Gunn, 23, disappeared on Feb. 14. Her remains were discovered Feb. 18.  She had been strangled.

DeMarcus Little, 23, a U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Gordon, has been charged with malice murder. Little was Gunn’s boyfriend, and they both knew Abron, said GBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Todd Crosby of the Perry office.

"They were all three friends," Crosby said when announcing Abron's arrest. Little and Abron went to high school together, he said.

Gunn, who went to Westlake High School in Fulton County, was a communications major at Fort Valley State University. Her funeral is Saturday.

Abron’s warrants allege he picked Little up from the spot where Little left Gunn’s car. The white Chevy Cruze was found a day after her disappearance not far from her home.

Investigators are still looking for the front bumper. Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese said last week that it appeared the bumper was ripped off by a tree stump while Gunn’s car was driven into the woods where he body was left.

Authorities haven’t released a motive.

Little's attorney, Benjamin Davis, told reporters after a court hearing last week that Little is a respected, successful member of the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Gordon and wasn't capable of the murder, according to Macon TV station WMAZ. It isn't clear if Abron has an attorney.

More arrests are possible, Crosby said.
