Families can celebrate Labor Day weekend and meet local elected officials at a block party and free fish fry in Lithonia.

The fourth annual “Family Fun Day” on Saturday, Aug. 31 will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on Main Street in the city of Lithonia.

Also called an "Old School/New School Block Party," the event will feature activities for children, entertainment, raffles and food.

“For the last three years, we have hosted the community family fun day to provide information on sex trafficking, access to voter registration and health screenings, and entertainment all in one place,” DeKalb County Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson, the host of the event, said in a statement.

Lithonia Mayor Deborah A. Jackson is the celebration’s cohost.

The block party will feature performances by the Lou Walker Dance Troupe and Bruce Street Line Dancers. The city also advertised a free fish fry.
