Rags, "other flushables" and grease trigged a 9,900-gallon sewage spill in Gwinnett on Thursday, officials said.

The spill originated at a manhole on Pine Acre Drive in Sugar Hill. According to information released by the Gwinnett Department of Water Resources:

"The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources (DWR) was notified at 8:50 a.m. and the overflow was stopped at 10:31 a.m.  The spill was approximately 9,903 gallons in volume and entered an unnamed tributary of Level Creek."

Water resources workers raked the area of the spill and spread lime, officials said. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division was notified.
