An uptick in accidents and near misses at the intersection of Antioch Road and Goza Road in south Fayette County has officials prioritizing traffic adjustments there.

The Board of Commissioners voted 4-0-1 on Aug. 24 to fast-track an engineering study, add cautionary signs, and ask the sheriff’s office to increase surveillance. The intersection was realigned in 2010, but accidents have increased, including a fatality last week. Residents and officials noted that speeding, the sight distance on Antioch Road, and drivers running stop signs are major issues.

The county plans to change the intersection to a four-way stop soon, but said a roundabout might be the best long-term solution.
