A driver had to be rescued Tuesday morning after she went through barrels and yellow tape and ended up stuck under a downed tree in south Fulton County, fire officials said.

The tree fell Monday afternoon on Buffington and Morgan roads, Union City fire Lt. Dennis Moore told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“It was on power lines, and fire crews were unable to remove it from the roadway,” Moore said.

Workers blocked the road, but the driver did not see the barrels and the tape, according to the fire department.

She told firefighters she was driving home from Conyers and was only about two minutes away. She was so relieved she made it that far safely, she did not pay attention to the barricades, Moore said.

Firefighters responded to the incident about 7 a.m. Moore said it took about 10 minutes to rescue the woman.

The driver did not require medical treatment.
