A DeKalb County commissioner is partnering with a church to distribute 1,500 boxes of free food Friday.

According to a flyer for the giveaway event, residents can visit The Gallery at South DeKalb mall starting at noon on Friday, July 10.

The event lasts until 3 p.m., but the boxes of produce will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

DeKalb Commissioner Larry Johnson, who represents the area, is partnering with Mount Nebo Baptist Church for the food drive.

The mall is located at 2801 Candler Road in the Decatur area.
