Free COVID-19 testing will be offered at two CVS Pharmacy locations in Smyrna.

Starting Friday, the self-swab tests will be available to people who meet criteria outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Testing will be held at CVS Smyrna locations at 4345 South Cobb Drive and 2994 Atlanta Road.

Potential test takers will be required to register online at CVS.com to schedule an appointment for the self-administered test. Once on the website, you will select a test location and an available time slot.

You also must fill out a registration form, and take proof of your identity, residency and a confirmation email or text message to the testing site during the day and time of your appointment.

When you arrive at the site, you will have to stay in your car and follow instructions posted at the location. Test takers will not have any out-of-pocket costs with their insurance due to the Families First Coronavirus Response Act passed by Congress.

Uninsured people will be covered under a program funded by the Department of Health and Human Services. Insurance will be accepted at these CVS locations, so test takers should bring their health insurance information with them.

If you don't have health insurance, be sure to bring your Social Security number, driver's license or state-issued identification card to the test site. Visit the CVS COVID-19 testing website for details and a list of questions frequently asked by residents.
