This is a photo submitted by Ben Malcom of a Corsair Marine Aircraft that had to be destroyed in North Korea in July 1952. “These planes were shot up over North Korea and could not safely land back on their aircraft carrier,” he wrote. Lt. Malcom was ordered to blow them up and clear the beach landing strip so the next plane could land. Notice the tail of the plane 50 feet down the beach and a rocket still on the wing after the plane was blown up? Malcom was a member of the Special Forces located 150 miles behind the lines in North Korea in 1952.
