The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has approved plans for a Conservation Design Community in the Hickory Flat community of eastern Cherokee County.
SR Homes submitted a site plan in April for the property off of Batesville Road. It calls for 82 lots on 150 acres. About 71 acres, or 47 percent of the tract, would be green space. Commissioners voted to move ahead despite expressed concern about topography, alignment of two roadways and wetlands protection.
Commissioners put off consideration on another proposed subdivision until its June 2 meeting. The Cherokee County Planning Commission had recommended denial of Pinebrook Estates LLC’s request to rezone just over 11 acres from General Commercial and Office Institutional to Residential-Lot Line for single family residential.
Some neighboring property owners had said they were concerned about the density of the proposal.
