UPDATE: The Atlanta Fair announced in a Facebook post they closed their gates amid the coronavirus pandemic. "We have decided to close our event for the foreseeable future," according to a post on their Facebook page. "We will continue to update you when we have more information."

The coronavirus outbreak has canceled several events, but the Atlanta Fair will remain open with increased health and safety measures in place, officials said in a statement on Facebook Thursday.
An abundance of antibacterial soap will be at all hand-washing stations, fair officials said. Dozens of alcohol-based hand sanitizers have been placed throughout the fairgounds as well.
“Top priority at The Atlanta Fair is the safety and the well-being of our guests and staff,” officials said, adding that they are closely monitoring updates from the Centers from Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization.
Fair officials also said they’ve significantly enhanced their cleaning and sanitation efforts on all guest and employee “touch points.”
Officials have not said why they are remaining open despite increasing coronavirus concerns.
The fair opened Friday, March 6 and plans to stay in Atlanta until April 12.
