North Fulton folks might notice a familiar name and face in their next visit to HHS.gov.

John Bardis, the founder and former CEO of Alpharetta-based MedAssets, has been named Assistant Secretary for Administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

He'll work under former Roswell Congressman Tom Price, who was appointed HHS Secretary by President Donald J. Trump.

When Bardis retired from MedAssets in 2015, the company was worth $720.2 million.

Bardis, 61, also founded Hire Heroes U.S.A. in 2006, a veteran transition and employment organization. Hire Heroes engineered than 6,000 confirmed hires, representing a 45 percent conversion rate of its veteran clients from “helped” to “hired” in 2016. As a result Hire Heros has been recognized by the Call of Duty Endowment, the George W. Bush Institute and the USO.

Bardis has three children and a wife, Judy. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business from the University of Arizona, where he was also a wrestler. Bardis served as Team Leader for the U.S. Greco-Roman Wrestling Team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Bardis is also listed as the owner of "The Cooler"Alpharetta's Family Skate Center.

He was profiled by The Wall Street Journal in 2014.
