A Gwinnett County principal recently received an "exemplary educator" award from the National Career Academies Coalition.
Lanier High School Principal Dr. Reuben Gresham was recognized for his efforts supporting the school's four career academies.
"All you have to do is walk the hallways and classrooms with Dr. Greshman to understand his commitment to Lanier High School and the Sugar Hill community," Gwinnett County schools assistant superintendent Debbie Dees said in a news release. "His person commitment to people in the Lanier community is infectious."

Lanier has four career academies — design and technology, life and health sciences, global business and leadership, and multimedia and fine arts. Gresham is credited with helping "foster and develop a stable leadership group" for the academies, as well as creating a twice-weekly "embedded block" for students to spend extra time on academy-related work.
"Our teachers and students have embraced the challenge of learning new things in new ways, and the success of all students during these crucial years is our number one priority," Greshman said in the news release. “We want our students to win in a global society and not be fearful to go out into the world."
The National Career Academies Coalition provides support and resources for career academies at schools around the country.
