An environmental group that conducted a private test indicates that it found traces of asbestos in certain brands of crayons and toy crime-lab kits.

The EWG Action Fund, a sister organization of the Environmental Working Group, found that four of 28 boxes of crayons and two of 21 toy crime-lab kits tested positive for asbestos, according to CNN.

The group is calling for an asbestos ban in all consumer products.

Significant exposure to asbestos has been linked to life-threatening lung diseases, including lung cancer.

The crayons that tested positive for asbestos were made in China. According to CNN, the affected brands include: Amscan Crayons purchased at Party City; and Disney Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Crayons and Saban's Power Rangers Super Megaforce boxes purchased at Dollar Tree.

The affected toy crime-lab kits include the Edu Science Deluxe Forensics Lab Kit  purchased at ToysRUs.com; and the Inside Intelligence Secret Spy kit, purchased on Amazon.com. In the toy crime-lab kits, the fingerprint powder was the source of the asbestos.

The report did not include the exact amount of asbestos found in each item.
