A 17-year-old in Bremen who allegedly stabbed his mother 11 times was arrested Wednesday, police said.

The mother is expected to survive, according to Bremen Police Capt. Richard Harrison.

Harrison said Peyton Kade Cook Jr. stabbed Tammy Lee Watson with a pocketknife in their Bremen home just after midnight.

“The lady was supposedly laying in the bed and he came in and started stabbing, and ran out of the back door,” Harrison told AJC.com.

The victim’s sister was at the house and called 911. Cook came back to the home and was arrested.

Two children were also at the residence on North Georgia Avenue at the time of the alleged stabbing, Harrison said.

Cook was taken to the Haralson County Jail and charged with aggravated battery and cruelty to children. Harrison said the charges would “probably” be upgraded to include criminal intent to commit malice murder.

Details about the suspect’s bond status were not immediately available.
