Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch and two health experts will host a virtual discussion Tuesday night to discuss the development and local distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. via Zoom and Facebook Live, according to a news release. Deutsch will be joined by Dr. Ruth Karron, Director of the Center for Immunization Research at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Health, and Dr. Vik Kapil, Georgia Department of Public Health Medical Director and Director of Health Protection.
The doctors will discuss vaccine trials, safety and distribution plans in addition to the ongoing surge in positive coronavirus cases across the country. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved the country’s first vaccine, which was developed by Pfizer. Its first shipments arrived in the U.S. on Monday.
“Understanding how these vaccines were developed and how they’ll be distributed are critical to supporting the rollout and saving lives,” Deutsch said in the release. “Vaccines are key to getting back to school, back to work and back to the things we love and enjoy together.”
