Police body cam video shows two police departments working together to revive a prisoner who was overdosing on drugs, Channel 2 Action News reported.

While Roswell police were on Old Milton Parkway taking a prisoner to jail Monday night, he began having breathing problems and lost consciousness, Channel 2 reported.

Roswell police used their dose of Narcan, which reverses opioid overdoses, but it hadn’t worked, so they called Alpharetta police in for backup, the news station reported.

The body cam video shows Alpharetta police arrive after the Roswell officers had moved the prisoner to the ground and were performing CPR.

An Alpharetta officer was able to give the prisoner a second shot of Narcan, Alpharetta police spokesman Howard Miller told Channel 2.

“Within 30 seconds, the prisoner started breathing on his own again, so they thought they were kind of out of the woods,” Miller said.

The prisoner began to lose consciousness again, and that’s when officers moved him to a squad car and took him to the hospital, Miller said.

Miller said Alpharetta police have had to use Narcan on at least 16 overdosing patients since 2016.

“It’s so important. We’ve already had several, if not dozens, of saves within our city because our officers have Narcan with them in their medical kits,” Miller said.
