A woman was stabbed multiple times and involved in at least three crashes near Lilburn, Gwinnett police said Thursday.
But detectives don’t know where the stabbing took place, if the wounds were self-inflicted or how the woman was involved in multiple accidents, police Cpl. Deon Washington said.
Police found her about 8 a.m. in the 1000 block of Oak Road. A car rear-ended the woman’s vehicle after she stopped in the road, Washington said.
After that crash, the unidentified woman pulled into a shopping center parking lot and quickly backed into the road, according to police.
“She then stopped her vehicle, got out covered in blood and began walking toward a woodline,” Washington said.
Gwinnett paramedics and a tow truck driver saw the woman and stopped to help her.
The tow truck driver told Channel 2 Action News he tried to calm the wounded woman, who sounded to him like she was speaking in tongues.
“She started coming to and somewhat kind of attacking me,” he said. “We got in a tussle in the briars up there.”
She was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center-Lawrenceville with “superficial stab injuries” and is expected to be OK, Washington said.
The woman was involved in at least two other accidents near Five Forks Trickum Road. However, details about those crashes or possible injuries were not released.
Washington said investigators are treating the area as a crime scene and looking for any weapons in the car or nearby.
