Five men are believed to have stolen 36,000 gallons of diesel fuel valued at nearly $90,000, Henry County officials said.

The alleged thieves are accused of using fraudulent credit cards to fill trucks with multiple gas tanks. They have targeted only Kroger gas stations in Henry and Clayton counties, police said.

Police told Channel 2 Action News the thefts were first reported last September.

Kroger released a statement saying the company will not comment while the investigation is ongoing, but that they are working with law enforcement to catch those who are responsible for the thefts.
